Nope.
I was going to write something about how a little car is nice and fun until some Lexus (it's always a Lexus driver, I've noticed) SUV cuts your little car in half and you too. I didn't, because I thought it might get taken the wrong way. But obviously I'm not the only one who has been on (or way too close to) the losing end of a small car vs. SUV/truck/(mini)van crash. I'm not comfortable either driving my beloved Mustang on the streets, when 90% of the other vehicles on those streets are bigger, stronger, have bumpers at my face level and drivers who seem to want to crash into me.
I love the acceleration and handling that a necessarily small sports car gives. But I simply can't enjoy those g-forces when I'm constantly on the lookout for all those SUV/truck/(mini)van drivers with murder in their hearts. The Thunderbird is a total loss, demolished by a (you guessed it) Lexus SUV driver. I'm still debating the fate of my amazingly resilient Mustang. My two choices are to sell it or trailer it to Road America, where I can drive it in peace with other skilled driving enthusiasts who can and do follow safety rules.
I wish you the very best Graham. I pray that I never see your sporty-economy sedan on the news with a reporter saying "the force of the crash literally cut the car in half..." as I do at least once a week, on the local TV news alone. But like dreman, I'll be content to suffer the heavier, mushier, taller ST experience to be rid of the constant feeling of dread that now comes with driving a sports coupe on public roads.
