What would be the best way to get my pc hooked up to the tv (wireless). There is no network jacks on the tv, just hdmi and rca. What kind of wireless adapters can I buy that won't cost a $$$$$$$$$. I heard use a WII or XBox 360. Rue has a WII,,, could I steal that and make it work?

No cheap way that I know of.. WII/Xbox doesn't really hookup your pc, it just allows for pictures/videos from your pc to be played through them to the tv as far as I know.

Wireless HDMI exists but it's pricey.

You can fairly inexpensively run hdmi from a computer to the tv though. I don't know how far you are trying to cover, but it might be an option if you just want to hook it up and unhook it when not needed..

LaRue, there are several options. You can buy a SVGA to RCA/SVIDEO cable, and that used with an SVGA splitter would send exactly what is on your monitor to your TV.

Not sure that's the best route, but clearly the most "direct".

Another is to use a product like Hauppauge's "Media MVP" line of products. The Media MVP is a small set-top like appliance that is wired, or wireless, and connects to your home network. It also connects to your TV or AV receiver, etc. The software included turns your PC into a media server, allowing you to control and play the media from the PC, through your home network and on the MVP set-top.

if you do go wired...HDMI is the best most simple way... one cable for sound and audio..

um... like someone said they do make a wireless hdmi device...we sell them at bestbuy

You guys suggesting HDMI have me puzzled.

I'm assuming Larue's computer does NOT have HDMI output on its video card. Most older computers don't.

LaRue, what are your video output capabilities of your PC? SVGA? S-Video? I'm assuming you have a bunch of content on your PC that you want to repurpose, view on your TV, and in the process turn your PC into a media server. Is that what you are looking to do?

the SVGA to RCA won't give a good pict... if your TV has an DVI or hdmi, then what was said above will work.. RadioShaft has a GranTec modem that will convert PC signal to RF style, costs around 100 clams... Wireless may be out, but may be expensive... see this site, as they have a lot of home theatre stuff...

I would suggest a video card with DVI/HDMI outputs. They seem to be coming down in price. Only question I have is, do you have an AGP slot or PCI-e in your computer? AGP is getting harder to find since it was replaced by PCI-e. It wouldn't give you a wireless connection, but it would be a direct plug-in with a DVI/HDMI adapter cable or straight HDMI to HDMI.

Yea Tom,,,, I have a LOT of "backed up" video that I can stream with all my pcs, just hoping for a way to get it to my big screen. I have an old laptop that I can hook up but it doesn't have any of the newer jacks. VGA, 2 USB and basicly nothing else. I have a d-link wireless card that works well. It's no biggie. Was just hoping to find a backdoor to get this tv wired into my home network. It's WAY too far to run a cable. Thanks any way guyz.

LaRue,

There is a FREE program called Wii Video 9 that is supposed to work well and let you stream to the Wii which will of course let you watch on your tv. I don't have any experience with it but have heard it works well and you can't beat the price :supercool:. The reason you need this software is the Wii does not stream like the PS3 and XBOX. Good Luck.
