I was taking some training courses in Witchita, Ks a few years back for the SIRM inspection on Beechcraft aircraft. We were put in a hotel that was simply awesome. Each room had a TV and VCR with free VCR tapes to rent. The room had a desk, a kitchen with a dishwasher, stove, microwave, large fridge with an ice maker. (I guess all rooms were that way too) It was really nice to come back from the class and be able to unwind in a "house". There have been others that I would not let a stray dog or a homeless person stay in. One hotel was so nasty, I slept with my clothes on, including my shoes. My bags were locked in the back of the truck, so if I had to make a run for it, I could. I think I ended up sleeping about 3 hours in the room before I got up and went on my way. There was no hot water, no dead bolt lock, the TV only had one channel to watch. It was the only room I could find. It was one of those where I told the inn keeper I would give them $20.00 for the room. He said "no" I walked outside and he told me $20.00 was fine. I said, "not anymore, not it is $15.00". Again he said "no". I said "I am going to turn around and walk out. If I go outside of the door and you call me back, the price will then be $10.00." He said he would take $15.00. I was almost ready to drive to a truck stop and sleep in the back of the truck. Tom
