Does anyone have a photo of what the 6-cd headunit should look like with the shipping bracket attached? Coastie was kind enough to lend it to me, but I cannot figure out how to attach it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. LB

I don't have photos, but I did see a diagram of how the bracket was installed a long time ago.

I know that there are 2 or 3 prongs on the bracket that fit into cooling slots on the radio case and it is held in place with a single screw in the center. I'm not sure if the bracker mounts in throug the back of the stereo or through the top. Examine the radio for a single round hole where the screw/bolt would go and look for matching slots that will accomodate the projecting prongs on the bracket.

LB, depending on what year the radio is, it may not use a shipping bracket. I borrowed the same bracket from coastie for my 04 radio and it didnt fit anywhere. There radio shipped fine without it.

I hope this link works for everyone else. Let me know...

Just in case, here's an excerpt:

Before removing the radio from the vehicle, the following procedure must be performed:

Turn on the radio unit.

Remove any CDs from the unit.

Keep radio on and depress and Hold the "SCAN" & "1" station preset buttons together. Keep buttons depressed until the radio displays "Please Wait" for 2 seconds (Figure 1). Release the buttons.

The radio will display "In Ship Mode" for 3 seconds. At this point, the radio may now be removed from the vehicle (Figure 2).

NOTE: IF THE RADIO WILL NOT ENTER SHIP MODE THERE MAY BE CDs STUCK IN THE UNIT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE OR DAMAGE MAY RESULT. MAKE NOTE THAT THE RADIO WILL NOT ENTER SHIP MODE ON THE 1878 FORM.

Install the Shipping Bracket into the top of the radio. The Shipping Bracket will support the CD mechanism ensuring unnecessary damage will not occur during transportation (Figure 3).

NOTE: THE SHIPPING BRACKET SHOULD EASILY SLIP INTO THE RADIO. DAMAGE WILL RESULT IF THE SHIPPING BRACKET IS FORCED INTO THE RADIO. MAKE NOTE THAT THE SHIPPING BRACKET COULD NOT BE INSTALLED INTO THE RADIO ON THE 1878 FORM.

GccST... did your radio look like mine? (pics in my library)

FlipTrac_511... the instructions on my radio are different. The procedure is as follows.

Turn ACC ON while pressing buttons 2 and 5. The words SHIPMENT ON will then flash on the unit. Then it is set for SHIPMENT MODE.

^^^ THAT'S IT! Lol. I'd be willing to bed $100 that this unit doesn't need the shipping bracket.

My radio was the audiophile, while yours is the adrenaline. I would bet any money that it doesnt require the shipping bracket either though.
