I want to replace the factory pin stripe but I don't know if it is under the clearcoat, or do I just peel it off ? Also, any tips on applying the new pinstriping would be appreciated.

I'm also thinking about painting the body cladding black to match the truck, any ideas or tips?

Thanks.

I am 99% sure that the ST NEVER came with a factory pin-stripe. Just peel it off. Either the dealer put it on or someone that owned it before you.

My pinstripe is painted on, Feel it with your finger nail to be sure....

As previously stated, most pinstripes from the dealer are vinyl tape that can easily be removed and any remaining adhesive wiped of with Goo-Gone, or Goof-Off.

A few dealers will have a professional pinstriper come and pinstripe their vehicle with paint. However, even Painted on pinstripes can be removed with enamel reducer without damaging the factory Urethane based paint. Professional pinstrippers will almost always use enamel paints.
