So I’ve started the Sport Trac journey of creating a great little truck that will have a unique style and a great ride.

I mentioned in my into that I’ve always liked these vehicles. I would have liked a 2nd gen Adrenalin but very hard to find and pricey. I then found this 07 limited locally for a good price from a dealer but in as is condition. It was $7300 out the door. It needed brakes and rotors all around, a drive shaft, an axel and a manifold. My mechanic did all but the brakes for around $1800. New cross drilled rotors and pads cost me $260. A K&N drop in filter was put in and a fresh oil change.

So I now have a nice driving ST limited with 178k for less than $10k Canadian funds.

So of course it needs to be made unique in style now. So I installed led headlights, fog lights, mirror puddle lights, licence plate bulbs, truck bed led’s and all interior light bulbs all to led. I removed the original chrome grill and replaced with a gloss black mesh grill and added some amber led lights. Gotta paint the chrome hood strip black to match the grill now.
Put all new cross drilled rotors and ceramic pads on for better stopping power.
I bought some 20” rims for $200 and refinished them to a gloss black. Looking for tires for them now.
Just got the front side windows tinted yesterday to match the back side windows.
I’m liking it so far. Can’t wait for the 20” rims to go on. Some other items to do are blackout paint the frame behind the side steps bars and paint the side step bars and trailer hitch gloss black. And a bit of body and paint work.
In the future I’d like a performance dual exhaust, a programmer, some kind of air suspension for the rear. Thanks for taking the time to check out this long post!! Cheers everyone!

I like that color, too. Almost went with that, but had to do black, instead. There was a good deal on one that color here in the 'relative' area (within 150 miles), but ended up driving 400 miles for a black one, instead. I don't see a pic with the 'new', fixed up wheels on it, but I really like https://sporttrac.org/attachments/9dbcb4f9-45ed-41c8-bc32-b81613d68e9e-jpeg.2200/ what you did with those wheel. That's going to look really good!

I just noticed yours doesn't have the fender-flares. Was that an option? I notice that the Adrenaline's do not have them, either. And it's one of the things that's taking away from the looks/my enjoyment of mine (my fender flares weren't taken care of, and despite me putting some love into them, even all black, it looks more truck, and less smexy vehicle!)

I think I know what I've got to do now; remove fender flares!

Thanks so much! I would have loved to have found a black one. I was interested in one in Toronto but it was over $12k and had 240+k on it.
This one came up for $7750 with 178k and I got it for less than that out the door but it was an as is buy. Cost another $1800 to fix and safety so not too bad I guess.
I’m still working on the rims and looking for some tires for the rims. Might be another week or two before rims get tires.
Not sure about the fender flares. I think 2nd gens only came with these small fender trim. I read that someone here had to cut down some f150 flares to put on theirs as there aren’t any made for the ST’s(?)

Did some minor painting on my 07 ST Limited. I am in the process of blacking out some of this truck so I painted the chrome strip above my new black mesh grill black to match. Went with gloss black and 2 coats of clear.
Also painted out the side step rails in a semi gloss black. Cleaned up a bunch of the underside of the truck and blacked out the frame with semi gloss black as well. The frame is quite visible on these 2nd gens below the doors so it needed some attention.
Did the trailer hitch as well. Hope you guys don’t mind that I like to post a lot of pics lol! Cheers!

Our 2008 Limited is the same color. Beautiful color with a wash and wax !!

Nice! It’s going to get a good bath soon now that my fresh window tint has had 3-5 days to harden up before it can be washed and my recent paint on some areas hardens up.

Looking good! I LIKE a great-deal the de-chromed mouth, and that you found a way to de-yucky the side-step rails. Were they both just Do-it-yourself paint jobs? My side-steps need love; I hate the way they look, and I put all kinds of 'slick-em' on them, to look like I'm adding moisture to the side-step rails, but it doesn't last long; much like if you try to slick-up a set of dried-out tires...

Your front's looking really good, too! If someone was smart, they'd make a relatively inexpensive front-bumper that's like the Adrenaline. I'm thinking that's what really gives the STA looks to the Sport-track, and I really want mine to have those impressive STA looks. The wheels, I'm probably going to pick up a set of 21" Edge Sport or similar wheels. I love those, have ever since they came out on the Edge Sport!

You're is coming along nicely, brother, keep it up! :) I've accepted that I'm going to keep mine, and upgrade. Just too damn hard to find the black, V8-Supercharged, AWD Adrenaline I was looking for. So I'm having to build one. :)

What did you do to the grill? Chrome is so much nicer. Even Chrome handles and mirrors

$7750 and 178000 miles on it. Wow! That's insane...
I looked at a 2010 recently for $5200 but decided on 2004 for $2000

Can't pay that much with so many miles

Thanks I appreciate the kind words!
The grill is a new aftermarket purchase that comes gloss black. I added the 3 amber accent lights. Probably going to put on a set of Ranger “FORD” letters on the grill for that Raptor look.
I sanded down the aluminum portion of the side step rails and just used semi gloss Tremclad rust paint to black them out. Way less slick than trying trim shine products.
I’d love to find an Adrenalin front bumper as it should fit and would really change up that front end.
Cheers!

I’m in Canada so the “mileage” is kilometres. Not sure how many miles 178000 kilometres works out to. Plus prices for these trucks in Canada is higher partly due to the exchange but probably also due to scarcity.
I’ve seen lots of ST Limiteds for well above $10000 up here with over 20000 kilometres! Cheers!

Divide kilometres by 1.609 to get miles; multiply miles by 1.609 to get kilometres.
Divide kph by 1.609 to get mph; multiply mph by 1.609 to get kph.
178000km is roundly 111000miles.
161kph is roundly 100mph.

I purchased a new gloss black mesh grill to replace the chrome grill. I am not a fan of chrome. I much prefer the black grill to the stock chrome grill.
It will likely get some FORD letters installed onto the grill to emulate a Raptor style grill.
I was happy that my truck came with the body coloured mirror caps not chrome.
I guess we all have our own tastes lol! Cheers!

Well, Gen1 versus Gen2 is a great deal of difference. I wouldn't want a Gen1, personally. But there are some that swear by them. I won't, simply because I'm a V-8 snob, and V-8 wasn't available in Gen1. Then, again, I'm a SUPER-snob, and am pissed that my V-8 4X4 isn't a supercharged, AWD Adrenaline (did they make those??)

I bought my 2008, had to drive 450 miles to get it, black, V-8, 4X4, and it cost me almost $11K. Believe it or not, these trucks command a premium, if it's what you're looking for. Mine has the back-window roll-down, sunroof, and the bed extender. It was exactly what I was looking for, and had 115K miles on it. I paid almost 11K for it. Again, people will pay for what they're looking for, as I did. :)

Oh, and guaranteed, I could sell it for 12.5K tomorrow, if I'm willing to sell. Which I'm not. :) I'll keep this girl forever, unless a Lightning comes at me, asking to trade.

I agree. I just saw several listed for sale here in Ontario, Canada that were the gen 2 limiteds selling for over $13k -$17k and all had 240k kms-300k kms. An Adrenalin model with under 200k kms was listed for $33k.
A limited here in my town sold in one day at a dealership. Was listed at $8450 with 240k kms. That would have been $11k out the door if paid full list price.
These are not cheap vehicles in Canada! They have great resale though as they are a rare truck to find here.

I saw a couple of Lightnings at the local Friday night cruise-in in my neighbourhood. I had never seen one before in the flesh, and here there were two. Very cool trucks but, in all honesty, I like my loaded 2010 Limited AWD Sport Trac better.
