It amazes me how confusing it can get finding parts for the 04 Sport Trac, thanks to its 'Explorer' label. Anyway, I'm ordering from Autobarn and I've referenced them and the manufacturers (in some cases under older Explorer) to get the following part numbers. I need help verifying the part numbers before I order. Again, I have an 04 2WD Sport Trac.

PowerSlot Rotors:

Front Left - 8751 PSL

Front Right - 8751 PSR

Rear Left - 8552 PSL

Rear Right - 8552 PSR

Hawk Pads:

Front - HB472F650

Rear - HB287F571

The pads come four in a pack right? Also, where can I get SS brake lines? Finally, my shopping cart at Autobarn has a subtotal of about $530. Good deal? Thanks!

8751 is correct for the front rotors. The PSL and PSR just stands for the left and right side.

The rears are correct too.

As for the Hawk brake pads, might I recomend Performance Friction Carbon Metallic pads? I have Hawk Ferro Carbon pads on my Escort GT. Performance Friction does not make pads for my Escort. The two pards are allike (carbon metallic vs. Ferro Corbon) Metallic and ferro are essentially the same. Then they both have carbon in the compound.

Price around to a few other places to get the best price. Autozone has great prices on Performance Friction pads and Summit Racing Equipment has some good prices.

You might want to check them.

FWIW, I am at about 73,500 miles on my Trac and I still have the original front rotors. Had the Carbon Metallic pads on it since about 3000 miles. I have replaced them a few times, all under warranty, but the last time I changed them out...I really didn't need to. I had the rotors turned only because I dumped the drums on the back and just wanted to make sure I had the best braking possible.

Caymen, good catch. I was under the impression that I was ordering carbon metallic.

SST, total w/ free shipping is $528. If I could get a better deal through you that'd be sweet! Thanks.

Flip-let me get back to you on Monday. Autobarn doesn't show pricing for the rears (or the correct part #s) as well as my vendor. Those are the correct #s as I checked them on Powerslot.com site.

From the pricing I see I can easily beat Autobarn. I'll call them on Monday as they are closed on Sundays and verify the price with shipping.

Caymen - Powerslot does extensive testing of their rotors using Hawk Pads. Just FYI.

I never said Hawk makes bad pads or anything. Hawk does not have the warranty the PF pads do. Plus the PF pads cost about half of what the Hawk pads cost. For street use on an everyday vehicle, the PF pads are hard to beat. On my Escort GT, with 300+ HP and a tuned suspension and all the bars installed, I don't have a problem buying new pads every few years since it is a project car. My Trac is a different story.

p.s. Flip, I do not knw of anyone that makes stainless steel braided brake hoses. I would live to have a set though. Made a dramatic difference on my Escort. Rock solid pedal feel.

That's awesome SST, I really appreciate ya! Here are the prices:

Front Rotors: $115.95

Rear Rotors: $78.95

Front Pads: $80.72

Rear Pads: $57.29

No tax and free shipping.

Caymen, I'm gonna stick with the Hawks but thanks for the head's up. As far as the SS brake hoses goes, I see some similar kits in my Jegs catalog but they are not Sport Trac-specific.

Just a thanks for these posts. I have copied/pasted these specs for when I need brakes. Judging by the report from my last state inspection, it looks like next year will be the pricey year - tires and brakes... :)

The rear brake hose setup is a little hoky on the Trac. A hose goes from the frame to the left wheel. There one hose goes to the left caliper, then a steel line goes from the left side to the right side. Then a hose goes from the steel line to the right caliper. The really need to be Trac Specific. Just an FYI.

If I could get thoise brake lines, I would do so. I do recomend Speed Bleeders to make bleeding the braking system painless.
