i keep getting this stupid grocery store coupon ad it just opens explorer and sits on the screen. how do i make it stop i have cleared cookies deleted files ran an ad aware Scan ran a virus scan nothing shows up and it does not go away.HELP it only pops up every 20 to 30 minutes.

Do you have a firewall in place? I used to get them like that until I engaged my firewall. Also, it really sounds like an adware problem. Go to "prefetch" under: start, my computer, windows, prefetch, and deleate everything in there.(nothing is needed) see if that helps. Something is hidden somewhere that keeps bringing it up.;)

bpoche, Todd has a good point also. I have Micro. Beta and Spybot on mine. Spybot also has an "immunize" function on it that keeps this type of crap from getting on your computer. You can get it FREE from download.com. Between the two, they keep my computer pretty clean.;)

Sounds like its a more aggresive bot.

Go to your control panel, and add/remove programs and check out that list. See if there is anything suspicious there, if so delete it.

If that didnt do it, goto start-run-msconfig, look at the last tab (startup) and see if there is anything suspicious there, if so, uncheck the box and restart your computer.

In either event, try to note the name of the file, do a search on your comp, and delete them. good luck

I tend to keep my CPU prety clean, but let my daughter just look at it and I have crap comming out of the woodwork.

I run spybot, adaware, and my anti-virus (all in safe mode) and that cleans it up every time.

thanks i got it i cleared the prefetch and msconfig looked at the last tab (startup) and saw there was suspicious items so,i uncheck the box and restarted the computer.
