Power Steering Fluid

I was wondering if it is alright to put Mercon V Transmission fluid in my power steering pump?The Owners Manual just says Mercon ATF , it does say not to mix the two. I have read some posts were people have put Mercon V in their PS pumps. I flushed my Transmission yesterday and have some extra Mercon V.

if it calls for mercon, you can use mercon V with no worries.

Just did mine last week. Motorcraft Mercon V trans/power fluid

The last ford I used other than merc-5 for PS. Was my '88 t-bird. It called for type F.
