i have an 04 sport trac and the window is down and will not go up. i have been having problems with it going down but never up. i think its the switch but how can i test that? the back lighting lights up so i don't think i have a broken wire in the jamb. please help i don't want buy the switch if that's not the problem.

You can pop the aem rest loose, to get to the switch. Use a jumper wire to jump the hotwire to the up and down wire. Make sure the hot has 12vdc. If the window works, you know it is the switch. Or if you are familar with using a VOM. you can test the switch for continuity in the up and down conections.

I've had the same problem in my 2001 Ranger. I read somewhere, and it works, to hold down the window button and close the door at the same time. Seems to be an intermittent problem, but especially when I use the 'auto' down.
