I have a new Mercedes that came with Sirius satellite radio and I love it. I also recently purchased a 2002 Toyota Highlander that came with an Delphi XM radio mounted to the console, but the previous owner had let the XM subscription expire.

I nuderstand that XM was bought out by Sirius and that they are offering some deals related to the old XM channels, but I am not sure what deals they may be offering.

What I would like to do is keep the same XM radio and get all of the Sirius channels that I get now. Is it possible to keep the old XM Radio and get all the Sirius channels? Or will I have to switch to a dedicated Sirius radio to get the Sirius channels? I am not interested in getting just some of the old XM channels even if they are duplicates of Sirius channels.

They moved some of the channels from Sirius to XM amd some of the XM to Sirius. Depends on which channels you are looking for. Go to the XM website and they list the new channels moved Sirius. No xtra charge.

You can not get ALL the Sirius Chanel's, But a good mix of them are the same...

What I would do is actually look for an adapter that will allow you to use the radio in the Toyota and receive the Sirius stuff...

I know George C did this in his new Honda that came with XM...

Yes, they are one in the same company, however, they are treating the two items as two separate entities.

By that, if you have a Sirius radio and would like to listen to XM stuff, you can call Sirius and XM stuff for like 3.00 to 6.00 dollars.

This also works if you own an XM and want to listen to Sirius stuff.

However, what you cannot do is get Sirius stuff on an XM radio in the format of a combined account.

An example is, I own one Sirius radio and my daughter wanted one as well. I bought a receiver and got the second FULL subscription for 6.95 a month. If I was to get an XM radio I would have had to get a separate XM account and it starts at like 13.00.

I bought a GM with an XM radio installed and do not use it as I have a 2 yr subscription with Sirius. So I put my receiver in the GM and all are happy...

Also, when we talked to Sirius about the new XM channels, they told us that only certain receiver models could get both. We have a Kenwood FM module in my truck and it's too old so I can only get the Sirius channels. We just put a new Kenwood stereo in the Bronco and it is supposed to be able to get both the XM and Sirius. Since we haven't activiated the satellite radio part of it yet, I can't say if it will work or not.

go to XMradio.com and check out the line up, along with the link to the best of sirius. Just depends on what stations you want to hear. If they don't have em on XM w/ the best of sirius, you will have to add an external sirius receiver.

Just re-upped at XM for about $66/yr. They will readily offer you this deal if you ask - either to get you as a customer or to keep you as a customer.

The deal is for $77 but they offer another $12.95 off if you put a card on file with them. I have two alerts to remind me next year before they take the $$ - and then I will call in and tell them was I have been telling them, "I believe $7 or so per month is a fair price. Anymore is not fair." Boom, they offer the deal.

I guess I did not make it clear in my original question. I do not want "The Best of XM". I have never listened to XM radio and so I don't really know what channels are the best for me. I just want the Sirius Everything package that I have in my Mercedes, but my Toyota has an older external Delphi XM radio mounted to the side of the console.

Is it possible to convert the antenna or radio to receive Sirius radio stations, or does Sirius offer some optional programming that would allow me to listen to Sirius channels on this old XM radio?

I suspect I will probably just have to buy a new Sirius radio. It is not the extra money, it's just all the trouble of taking the old radio out and installing a new one.

Ok,,

The radio you have is EXCLUSIVE to XM broadcast.

You cannot change the antenna nor an integral part of the radio to accept the Sirius broadcast.

You can get the "Best of Sirius" or whatever they are calling added to your XM subscription if you have one. It cost like 3.99 to 6.99 a month to do so.

The new radios that are being made today, are designed to accept either or, or both broadcasts.

Kevin,

Thanks. I suspected that I could not receive true Sirius broadcast with the XM radio, but I seen a lot of antenna converters for specific car radios to convert XM to Sirius, thought perhaps there would be a similar solution for the Delphi XM radio.

I guess if I want Sirius radio, and I can get a good deal on a second subscription, I might go for it. If they don't offer a plan worth buying and switching out the radio, then I won't bother doing it. It's really just my work vehicle, but since my job involves some travel, it would be nice to have the Sirius radio in it, but not a necessity.

Many radios can be purchased on Ebay and elsewhere which will receive service because XM doesn't turn off the service from their end.

Give it a shot as it's worked for many others.
