hey still looking for performance anybody have any experience with those guys on ebay that claim horsepower gains for those plug in things that is not a chip i was searching under sport trac and one of them came up.wondering if anyone has used them

Dave

The plug in deal, if you get one that does anything at all, just fools the fuel injection into running in choke mode all the time.

All those things will definitly improve your wallet size...It will shrink enough to put in your watch pocket.....:lol:....But your truck will not improve...

YThose plug in things that attach to the intake air sensor add a resistive value in addition to the normal resistence of the thermister which is determining inlet air temperature. The additional resistive value in the circuit makes the inlet temperature look colder than it actually is to the ECM. The cooler denser air indication tell the ECU to enrichen the mixture. The reslts is a richer mixture in the combustion chamber which is not necessarily optimum for performance. This can actually lead to an over rich mixture and cause increased gas consumption and if extreme, fouling.

Let me give you a tip that you can use not only in auto performance parts, but many aspects of life...

If something looks/seems to good to be true, it probably is.

If you want to make your trac perform better or get better gas mileage, there are a lot of great ideas here on the forums. The people here are very very helpful. Don't fall for any of the gimmicks out there, there are PLENTY of them. You did the right thing by asking instead of just buying though, so you deserve some credit. :)
