Yes, it deadens external noises and makes the side windows not as easy to break for security. But then, if you need to break the side glass window to get out in an emergency, you better have a sledge hammer or crow bar.....LOL! I'll keep my tempered side glass over laminated....

Jeep has been using laminated glass as standard equipment for the front windows of the Grand Cherokees since the 2011 model year. My wife has a 2014 GC.
I guess I'll drive from the back seat in case of emergencies. :bwahaha:

Windshields are laminated glass. There is a layer of polyurethane between the two glass layers. The purpose of the lamination is safety- the polyurethane retains the glass structure when it breaks so shards of glass do not go everywhere.
