Hey guys,

just going to do rear brakes, they are discs, just wondering if there is anything I should know that is different from the front when i work on the back.

i will be swapping out the rotors as well, so want to know if i'm facing any challenges there as well if there is anything to be done with E-brake.

also on the front, is there anything i need to watch out for when it comes to rotors.

thanks,

pinda

Pinda, Nothing really, Take apart as you would, no special tools needed. Just don't have the parking brake set or you will not get the rotors off... Nothing to do with the ebrake unless it doesn't hold the truck...

For the front, just don't be cheep, Get good parts and you will be fine. On the front and back the rotors are a "hat" style and will slide off...

Lube the caliper and brake pad slides and anti squeal shims well.

Also may be a good time to flush your brake fluid.

The rear rotors are different from the front as the e-brake is housed inside the back side of the rear rotors. As Todd noted, make sure the e-brake is not set. Also, some times it does wear the e-brake surface and the pads kind of get stuck on the inside like the old drum brakes use to do.

Once you get the off, if there is a lip on the out side edge (of the e-brake area) either have the lip machined off or you can grind it down your self. Just do it pretty even to prevent balance issues. I have done it to hundreds of them.
