The rear end has showed evidence of fluid loss for some time, at the driveshaft end. My local shop really didn't see it as much of a problem, commented about having to pull the axle's to replace the seal etc.

Anyway, the ST(113K miles) has started to make a weird clicking noise when backinmg up. Also, it is very loud at highway speed. The noise I attributed to tire noise at first. This is my 4th summer with my Hankook Ventus ST(GREAT tire!) 295/45VR20's, and they are to the wear bars. Now I'm beginning to think that I may have some rear wheel bearing or diff issues.

I did search some old posts that had some great pictures of the bearings and diff.

My question's, have others experienced this?

Is is "time" considering the mileage.

Do the axle's indeed have to be pulled to get to the seal on the driveshaft side of the rear end, and what else should be replaced while in there?

Thanks

If it is leaking from the pinion seal, you do not have to pull the axels.....

Change the seal and then the fluid....
