Last week I took my ST for almost an hour and a half drive, but let somebody else drive while I sit in the rear to finally see what the ride was like back there. There's a lot of room back there for a compact, dare I say, SUT and I am 5'11". The one discrepancy I have was with the seat belt. It seems lock happy. When I had to reach over it would lock. I would lean back in hopes of 'resetting' it but it would just lock again, and it would do this until I was sitting upright with the belt snug across my chest. At this point the only recourse was to release the buckle, fully retract it, and then resecure. Quite annoying but never had any complaints from any of the passengers I've had back there.

I never rode in the back, so I cant help. My problem is that my driver seat belt is lock happy. 80% of the time the retractor locks and wont let me lean over. Very iritating. They are only suppesed to lock, in case of a accident. I have had them to lock when hitting big bumps. That I understand. It will happen on a smooth road though...

I've noticed that the belt locks seem to grab when making a turn. It's like the extra side Gforce is enough to trip the inertia mechanism. My old Tbird and my brides Grand Prix act the same way. I've just learned to deal with it.

They should only be lock happy when the brake pedal is depressed or during a actual crash. The slightest pressure on the pedal is probably whats causing your situation.

I've noticed that too. It really annoys me when people ride back there and then catch in the door afterwards. I've also noticed (at least in mine with the captains chairs up front) you ride higher up in the back seats. Almost like stadium seating.

The rear seats have "Child seat settings".

If you pull it ALL THE WAY OUT and then let it go back to where ever it ends once it is on the car seat, or a person, it locks at that location. It can go in, but not out. Only way to reset it is to release the seat belt and let it return all the way back in.

I would suggest to be sure your not pulling it out so fat to activate the system for use when it is just a passenger as opposed to a car seat.
