How much should I expect to pay to have my heads redone. I am currently leaking oil into my radiator (but not water into the oil). Still runs fine, but all of you should check your water outllet/ thermostat housing for leaks.

When you say re-done. I assumed you meant rebuilt.

But based on your issue, I am guessing you have head gasket issues, not a head issue. If you DO have a head issue, it is likely that it is cracked. If that is the case, then not worth re-doing it.

While you are at it don't forget to remove the radiator to get it porfoessionally cleaned by a radiator shop and also don't forget to replace every hose that has coolant flowing through it...the oil just breaks these hoses down and they will fail. Also the block and the heater core need to be throughly flushed out as well.

Book time to replace the head gaskets on a 4x4 is almost 25 hours as the engine has to be removed. Before condemning the head gaskets the freeze plugs under the cams and behind the timing chain cover need to be checked for leakage. Usually what I do is pull the oil drain plug, let the engine drain for a few hours adn then pressurize the cooling system and look for water coming out of the oil drain plug....I have a feeling this is where your problem may be adn wouldn't be the first time I have seen it.

I would assume if its the freeze plugs that it would not require pulling the heads thus, being alot cheaper?
