Ok. weather is getting chilly up here in NE, I had a remote starter in my vehicle before I bought my ST and loved it. I have Leather interior and my guess will be that it will be freezing when i get in it in the morning. Do i have to wary of anything when purchasing a remote starter? How hard is it to install? Will it affect the anti-theft setup from the factory?

thanks in advance

DanG

I think you'll need something like this to maintain the integrity of the factory anti-theft:

Nothing against the ones MPTony recomended but I have installed numerous Bulldog Security Starters with one one having a problem. You can get them from K-Mart and sometimes for under $50. All are a little complicated if you haven't put one in before, but really, they are pretty basic if you don't need to hook up for the door locks and such. (if you don't mind another remote on your keychain. You will need a bi-pass for the security. You can get ones that use an extra key, or some installing places can get programable ones that don't need a key. E-mail me if you need any questions answered. I'll tell you what I can.;)

I'm looking for ease of use. My wife drives my truck occassionally and has trouble with anything more than "press this to open doors". so I would want one remote. Can the PassKey be setup with aftermarket alarms and remote starters?

yes. DEI or Peripheral Electronics offer a couple of pieces which do not require you to loose a key, Audiovox make a very user friendly piece. it has 4 bottons on the remote. an unlock symbol, a lock symbol, a key symbol, and the word option wirten on the buttons. along with a small bottion on the side that powers a hyper LED to use as a light if you need to find something. the symbols are very slef explainitory and my wife wanted a user friendly one. i have the 2 way paging one with the LCD screen display. and her words were " i dont need all that fancy $hit, just give me a basic remote. she also enjoyed that it was almost $100 differience. just remember you pay for what you get.
