Hey I've read that alot of people have replaced this and mine has gone bad going from the code I posted earlier. Can anybody give me a step by step of how to replace this because apparently it is simple. I don't feel like paying $150 to have it replaced if I can do it myself. Thanks Kyle

PS: pix prefered

Unplug the wire connector. Firmly grasp the DPFE sensor and wiggle it gently as you pull it off the rubber tubes. Reverse procedure to install. Should take a total of two minutes.

A tip for removing the DPFE sensor: Get some penatrating fluid (WD40 / PB Blaster ) take the tip of a small screwdriver and push it in between the rubber hose and the plastic tube of the sensor, give it a shot of penarating fluid, then work it in and around the tube. May save the rubber hose from splitting and the pain of going to the dealer to replace the tube and hose assembly. (works for heater hoses too!)

Well, I have to go out of town this weekend about a 320 mile roundtrip and I couldn't find any local shops with the EGR sensor and I don't have all my tools and I was busy today so I just took it anyway to have them fix it and I know the guy and he said they do it all the time and it wouldn't cost me much so I said whatever because I always take my truck to them. Lucky I did because its turned into a headache. First they called me and said that the sensor housing or whatever was cracked and definitely needed replacing. And later they said they couldn't fix it today because apparently there are two types of Ford valves and originally mine had the wrong valve in it? He said there is a big valve and small valve and mine had the wrong one in there and then he said the check engine light was still on and said that he'd have to take a look at the circuits and all that. Whats the take on this? Why would it have the wrong valve in there? I bought the car with 9k and it has 66k and I've never had an EGR replacement or anything of that.

Sounds like you have a sh!tload more than a sensor problem. Either that or you have a really dishonest shop.

I got my replacement DPFE off of E Bay for $45. Motorcraft OEM. Just check the listing to make sure you get the right one. Search for "DPFE Sensor"

I have had alot of work done by these guys that I couldn't do and they have shot me straight so I don't think they are being dishonest but I guess you never know with shops nowadays and how things go. I am taking it back in on Monday and I am going to talk to them some more and make sure I am not getting screwed on this and make sure the problem gets fixed correctly.

Ford has changed designs/updated this part several times. Originally they were metal, now plastic. I believe that DPFE-15 is the latest revision.
