It was an interesting trip. Auschwitz of course is a very sad place...so sad in fact, that my daughter wouldn't go to the museum. The salt mine was pretty cool, but the tour is too long at three hours. We really enjoyed the town square in Kracow though. There is always something new to see there. Enjoy the slide show below. :)

Great pics--thanks! What's the temp there? It's been the driest summer in Tennessee in memory, and we are in our second week of three-digit temperatures, which is also probably a record. We're as house-bound in TN as we would be with three inches of snow on the ground.

The temp was 80 yesterday, but it has been in the 50s and 60s much of the past month with a lot of rain. No global warming here this summer.

Nelson,

My mother visited the remains of a concetration camp that was built to exterminate people of my faith. Her aunt and a cousin of hers was killed at that place.

Both were German.

Nice pictures Nelson, maybe your daughter will go with you another time. She is so lucky to be old enough to experience different countries, cultures all the things they have to offer. Just to be in another countries museum is sooo kewl! I bet her friends back in the states would think so! :)

I went to Auschwitz back in '81 with my daughter, she was 5 at the time. We didn't explain to her what the place was,, but when we walked through the main entrance she asked,, Dad, did someone die here? Man did I freak out. The rest of the tour there was spooky.
