I've been looking for new rims and scoped out Jegs' catalog to get an idea of the prices.

Called one of their sale reps to find the right size and he was not able to help because he said it depends on whether th ST is angled? and bead width? or something to that effect!

Can any one post the rim size that I need to look for when shopping? the tire is a standard GY Wrangler P255 70 R 16, I believe the 16 is the rim size but the catalog lists them as 16 x 8", 15 x 7", etc.

Also, any suggestions on sites for tires and rims would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Got my rims at http://www.barretire.com/

Check my profile for the exact rims. But the ST bolt pattern is 4 on 5. If you get rims make sure that it's that particular bolt pattern.

The 255 70 R 16 is the tire size.

A breakdown of that is this...

255 is the mm width of the tire

70 is the ratio of width to height of the tire

16 is the diamater of the rim size.

The ST stock rimsize is 16x7. However it CAN fit other rimsizes so long as you don't get to much of a negative offset. By negative I mean like my rims are a +12mm offset. Which means the rims are set in more towards the wheel well by +12 mm. Try to aim around a 0mm offset, so that there is equal space on both sides of the rim with the wheel well.

Lastly, most rims out there in the 16" range are usualy 16x8 not the stock of 16x7, that means that the rim is one inch wider than the stock.

Hope this helps.

Here's some sites that I had saved from awhile back when I was looking for wheels. I'm sure you'll have plenty options here. If you can't find much, then just google for something your looking for.

Tirerack.com

4CustomWheels.com

WheelMart.com

Superbuytires.com

Rimstop.com

They are also asking about rear spacing. Is it 4" or 41/2" ?

Something else I forgot to mention to you too is this.. If your going to go shopping for rims, MAKE SURE that you get rims that will clear the calipers on the rotors. The calipers are the larger parts that are on the rotors that hold the break pads.

MOST 15" rims that are made WILL NOT clear the calipers and you need to be VERY careful if you go for that rim size. Anything larger than a 16" and you should be fine. I don't recommend going larger than a 20" rim if you want to get really flashy.. I chose a 16" rim size because I liked the stock rim size, just NOT the tire size because I felt the stock tires were WAY too small comparing them to the wheel wells.

If you need any more help or advice, just ask.

Yeah, I'll probably stick with the stock size. I agree it does look like it's a small tire for the wheel wells, but right now I'm just looking to change the rims. So getting them the same size as the stock ones are important.

So let me get this straight: the rims can be either 16x7" or 16x8" w/ no more than a 12mm offset, preferably 0 mm, 5bolt on 41/2" and 4" back spacing on OE sized tires. Also is there anything else I need to check on about any rims I'm interested in? Like lugs, center caps, etc.

Thanks,

Nope... I think you got all the info you need. Only other thing I could say is if you got larger than stock tires you're going to need to do a re-alignment on the truck along with a possible TT on the front about an inch for clearance so that they wont rub. But seems as how your sticking with the stock size, you'll be just fine.

If your sticking with 16" and want to go chrome, american racing has alot of good ones out there that will last you. (I have them.) Good luck and let me know how it turns out with pics!

Thanks again, I plan on finally hooking up my CAI this weekend and fine tuning the xcal on a dyno, been waiting to do both for a month and a half now so once I've done that I'll look at purchasing those new rims. American Racing has a set I like, so we'll see.

I'll post 'em when I get 'em!
