long awaited rotator cuff surg was done thursday morning. 3 hours and it the tear was worse then expected.

this freakin' huge complicated sling is killin' me. no way am i going to make 6 weeks in this thing. i think i finally slept for an hour straight :boohoo:

oh well back to the doc on tuesday to see what is next. :banghead:

I had to sleep in a recliner. Do exactly as your therapist says, no matter the pain, and you'll be feeling great again before you know it.

Good to hear its over and your OK. +1 on what Hugh said, pain is soon forgotten. I see shoulders being fixed every day, its not a big deal for us, but the patient has a short road to recovery. AS LONG AS THEY DO WHAT THEY ARE TOLD!!! Happy Christmas, hope to see you soon. Bob

Let me know how that works out Gary. I have been advised that I need that same surgery on my right shoulder.

Was this arthroscopic surgery? Having it next month on my right shoulder. It's not a bad tear. Mainly needs to remove a bone spur.

thx everyone

gerry/tom,

it was arthro and over 80% deep tear. i hope you guys are not right handed, mine was on my left shoulder so i can at least do a few things. it sucks not being able to do things for yourself that you take for granted. this f'in sling is tremendous. in a few days i am going to try to sneek a drive as i cant take it anymore

believe it or not, the pain & swelling is not bad. haven't took a "perc" in 2 days.

pappy,

think i am going to roll the camry into the 10 Xb i told you about. when i get a lil better, i will email you i have some questions.

Man, does this thread ever bring back painful memories. Had arthroscopic shoulder surgery back in '02. Not the rotator cuff, though. Had about a dozen calcium deposits forming in the area for reasons unknown, ranging in size from about a BB to a large almond. They went in and removed them. Four different incision points--two in front, one in the armpit, one in back. Perc was my friend for a few days. It was my right shoulder; fortunately I'm left handed.

Best advice I can give has already been given here--don't scrimp on the PT, be it the actual sessions or the on-your-own-time exercises. Many may hurt like a sumbich, but well worth it in the end with regards to things like long-term range of motion.

I am going to the doc friday to schedule for mine. Yep right shoulder and handed. I have tryed to out last it but the pain is so bad I have finaly accepted the fact that it ain't going to get better. I should have gone in 3 months ago. Don't feel so tough now.

went to doc today and had stitches removed.

learned i had two tears one partial and one full.

PT starts saturday with just arm movement for 4-6 weeks. the doc told me PT can last up to 6 months.

good to know i can take this huge f'in sling off while sitting for a short period of time

still want to sneek a drive, but gonna' have to wait a few weeks

oh well, for you guys that are going to get it done, there is no choice.

i am a huge baby when it comes to this crap....gotta' make the best of it!
