Is it ok to start using a synthetic like RP in 80k and up vehicles? I think you all have convinced me to start using RP.

I already use Mobile One. I was just curious if RP was ok for higher mileage applications, or if it was something that needed be used since break in period.

If you've been using Mobil1, you're fine to change.

RP just has a high detergent ability, and, although it doesn't cause leaks, it makes any leaks there much easier to find.

I think if you have gone this far on regular petroleum based oil and do the change every 3K, I say stay with what your doing, Don't change it now..

Oops,

I spelled it wrong, too!

(I think you meant "change", I also thought you meant "cage", as in a place to

trap or keep things, as in oil filter).

That's what I get for thinkin' !!!:D

I got RP in my ranger with 260k miles in it. It wouldn't hurt to make the upgrade. Might even help it little more.
