checking to see if this sounds right, first i went to best buy and asked if i can add sat radio to my existing stock sat ready radio in my 08 escape. i was told no and thought that was odd. i stopped at an audio store that an old friend owns and he told me i need the reciever, translator and 2 wiring harness and it should take about an hour to install. install & parts will cost $300.00.

sound like a fair deal?

Why not just go with a unit and mount it in like you used to do ???

Why not get a Ford add-on and be totally stock?

FWIW, Best Buy employees know little about what they sell. I know there are some that know what they are selling, but the vast majority don't have a clue.

If he is using OEM Ford parts, then no, that is not too bad of a price considering the antenna and antenna wiring harness alone to be able to plug it in are roughly $100.00 at discount cost. The wiring harness that goes from the head unit to the receiver is around $75 if I remember correctly. I don't know the price on a receiver, but they are running around $75 on EBay, so figure $100.00 at least from Ford (probably a lot more). Leaves somewhere around $50.00 for install. This is also based on mounting the antenna ont he front right corner where a stock mount would go. If you move it to another location, you can add $40 for the antenna wire extension.

If it is not OEM stuff, then I would have to know the setup before judging it.
