The main advantage of having a high number of gears in a street car is gas mileage. With an 8-speed, you can turn a lower RPM at almost any given speed. Low speed (<10mph) and approaching top speed will of course be unchanged.



I doubt the clutch in that car capable of changing gears super fast, so you gain very little in acceleration, as you lose time having to shift more gears.



With an 8-speed, you could probably see a few MPG increase for highway, but probably about the same for city.
