Doe's anyone hear remember the brand. Also where to get that $40 scangauge substitute. Some of you bought one awhile back.

Thanks......

That was an introductory price Eddie.

Eddie,

I have the UltraGauge for my Toyota Highlander. I paid about $59 + shipping for it a little over a year ago...It works great and is still working fine.

I am not aware of any offers for a ScanGauge substitute for $40, but the Ultra Gauge at $60 is worth every penny.

For $30 you can get a OBD2 bluetooth sending unit and load up any number of free or low cost apps into a phone or tablet that does exactly what those gauges do.

I use HOBDrive on my tablet and the low-dollar Amazon sending unit.

DoctorCAD,

Does the cellphone apps allow you to correct or calibrate for speedometer/odometer errors?

Most vehicles speedometer/odometers are inaccurate and my purpose for getting the UltraGauge was it's ability to calibrate for speedometer/odometer error for calculating fuel mileage. After installing the the Ultra Gauge and calibrating the gauge to show the true speed and miles driven my mileage jump by 3 MPG just by watching the gauge and my instantaneous MPG readings. Now that I have gone back to my regular driving habits my mileage has still shown a 1 MPG improvement which I attribute to the more accurate Speed and Mileage readings after calibrating.

What are some of the other free or low cost Scan Gauge like apps for Android phones?

The device can be calibrated, but it is only a one way system. It cannot "fix" your speedometer. It can read and clear codes, though. The speedometer in Torque can be set to GPS or vehicle or a difference between both.

Torque and ACarputer are 2 others I use. There are hundreds, but most only show the most basic info, Torque and HOBDrive give the best displays IMO.

DoctorCAD,

Thanks for the info. Yes, The UltraGauge can only correct the Speedo and mileage on the UltraGauge readout and mileage calculations, but cannot adjust or correct the vehicles speedometer.

I'll check on the Torque and ACarputer...to see if there is something on their systems that I might want that may not be on the UltraGauge.
