Some how I've contracted a worm/malware/virus/something that redirects me to some assorted BS site every time I search for anything. I've updated/ran SpyBot, my AVG picks up nothing, the only thing I see that coresponds to anything near the date of this starting is this:

Virus found Rozena c:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\a5327532.exe

but it isolated it in the virus vault, which I have since emptied.

Help? Suggestions?

+1 for Malwarebytes. My wife's boss got one of those fake antivirus viruses and couldn't get rid of it with Norton, AVG, or any other program. Malwarebytes took it and about 30 others she didn't even know she had out.

I ran Malwarebytes this morning and it hit 18 items

I didn't do it in safe mode.

It doesn't do it in IE, only Firefox. I deleted Firefox and reinstalled it. Same crap!

When trying to rid yourself of a stubborn windows problem it's best to run in "Safe Mode" while trying to extradite the demon. Running it in the stripped down "Safe Mode" will enable the programs like "Malwarebytes" to be more efficient and find something that may be hidden in a start up program loading without your knowledge. Make sure that you don't have any "Toolbars" installed in Firefox , they will have a tendency to hijack your search results.

Have you tried doing a system restore to a date prior to the "crap". Often that will work with the lower level malwares.

Also Malwarebytes will remove most of this stuff with ease. If you need further advice email me and I will help you through. I can even phone you and talk you through a sytem restore. I have unlimited free long distance.

I've ran Malware, SpyBot, Hitman ,PC TOOLS, and they all "find" different stuff. The PC Tools found lots but after only doing half the scan in 20 hours I killed it and uninstalled it. I have a friend who is pretty darn good on this stuff and sent him a HijackThis and even had him remote in and go over everything. He didn't see it anywhere. I'm quite frustrated at it at the moment!!:angry:
