Seat belts not retracting

The front seat belts on my 04 (~100k miles) are retracting only very slowly and the buckles often get slammed on by closing doors. Has anyone serviced the retracting mechanism to like-new condition. I think they're $230 to replace.

My '04 does the same. What I do, is. When I unbuckle myself. I hold the belt outward towards the windshield, with my left thumb. After a small outward tug. It will retract while I guide it towards the upper B-pillar mount. Works 98% of the time

According to the TSB, my 2005 had the teflon tape installed.

Both sides STILL retract very slowly. I'm used to it now. :angry:

You know they have cars park themselves but a retractable seatbelt that can work for the life of the vehicle still seems out of reach....
