I haven't tried it yet on the Trac, but on my Ranger I'd just buy a pair of cheap 2x4's along with my drywall and angle them down from the (closed) tailgate to the front of the bed. Then slide the drywall or plywood down the 2x4's. Same trick ought to work with the bed extender on a Trac.

Others have had a pair of tail gate cables made shorter or put holes in higher up the sides of the bed and hooked the cables to the new hole.

This raises the gate up to a level point near the wheel wells. They slid in the wood, it was supported by the wheel wells and the tail gate nice a flat..

I carried 4x8 sheets of plywood by making a rack that sits in the bed.

Now the rack hangs on the back of my shed and has been used a couple of other times to carry plywood.

This was my other solution, swapping the tailgate cable positions temporarily to haul plywood.

It worked, but I prefer the wood rack I built instead.

One suggestion to the wood rack, (which is very nice by the way).

Add a set of legs near the end of the bed as well as the legs that are on the gate. Why,,,, this will relieve some of the weight and stress you put on the actual tail gate.

If,,,, something happened, a cable broke or the gate hinges gave way etc etc the legs in the bed would still support the load and keep things safe...

I've used the bed extender as an anchor for a little suspension bridge to support 12' hardiplanks before. If you only need a few it works fine. Just tie the binders twine they usually have at Home Depot or wherever to the extender and to the end of the boards. The hardiplank was a little flexible, so I added a second strand halfway out. It worked fine for the three mile trip home.
