Is inserting 6 blank CDs effectively the same as using a shipping bracket for the 04/05 Adrenalin head unit?

While I'm at it, where can I purchase the head unit removal tool and the shipping bracket anyway?

FlipTrac,

No. Inserting a CD will not prevent shipping damage. The damage occurs when the CD unit is turned upside-down. The CD transport/changing mechanism will fall off the mounts and will require shipping it back to a factory service tech for repairs. You must use the shipping bracket or it's alsmost guaranteed that the unit will get flipped over and arrive damaged.

Check with CoastieJoe, he had a shipping bracket that he was loaning out (with a deposit) to allow members to sell and ship their 6-CD changers. He said he broke his and took the unit apart and it took him several hours to figure out how to get the CD transport remounted correctly.

Rich is correct. I have all the tools required and spent three hours with tearing it apart and figuring out how to put back together.

Todd and I both have the bracket. We charge fifteen dollars up front and refund ten back when we get it back from you.

Either of us can help you.

Thanks for the info Rich. Jeff, Coastie, I really appreciate the kind offers. I may take you up on it in the near future if all goes well. Thanks again.

...gotta luv this site.

So, does the headunit have to be plugged in for the bracket to be installed and removed, or is no power required?

Coastie, there is a request from LB for the shipping bracket in the Swap and Sell section. ;)

Jeff, I will be emailing you in the near future regarding the removal tools.

Thanks everybody!

Flip Trac,

There is a procedure to put the unit in the "Parked" position, then you can remove it. Be sure not to turn the unit upside-down until the shipping bracket has been installed, and do that immediately.

FYI, I'm not the one shipping a headunit. I'm in the process of purchasing one from a member.

Jeff, you have mail.

Thanks again.
