Not sure how many east-coasters we have, but anyhow...

Went to Southside Johnny's webpage to check tour dates and found that the page plays his whole new CD (which I already have). Sadly, it doesn't look like he's coming to Pittsburgh this year and I can't make the Ohio show dates.

Although SSJ can be an aquired taste, the new CD is his best work in years. Horn-flavored blues and soul, for the uninformed.

What's up with people and bands not coming to Pittsburgh anymore? I know alot still do but a few I've been interested in either don't book dates here or come to the Ampitheater during the time when it's 40 below out.;)

Mostly because the entertainment tax is too high. That's why the big acts always go to the Amphitheater now because it's in a different county w/o the tax. Never been there myself because 1) you can't count on the weather and 2) rarely can I justify spending $65 or more on a ticket to see anyone, I don't care who it is. Vastly better entertainment value to see Southside Johnny at the rib cook-off for $5.

A number of recording artists are so pi$$ed off at the record companies and large radio staion owners (namely Clear Channel) for buying the concert venues they play. These large corporations are sticking it to the public with high ticket prices...high parking prices...etc.

Steve Miller refused to tour for a couple of years out of protest to these actions and spent the time in his private recording studio. Bob Seger turned his back on the whole industry and is now racing boats on Lake Michigan. The list goes on and on.

Until the paying public refuses to pay these prices...ticket sales will continue to climb.

Just look at the ticket prices/sales for the Bon Jovi concert at Heinz Field...

Used to try to catch SSJ whenever I was out at the Jersey shore...you never knew who might show up. Was never lucky enough to show up for any of Springsteen's impromptu visits, but I did catch Clarence Clemmons & David Sancious jamming one night w/ the Jukes.

DAMN!! That was almost THIRTY years ago!!! I didn't realize they were still alive, much less still playing!
