I plan on taking my motorcycle on a trip, which invloves having the bike in the back and the tailgate down. If I have a tire problem, can the spare be lowered? It would really be a PITA to unload the bike and all, while on the side of the road. I've thought about pulling the spare prior to leaving, but I'm to too keen on that either.

You need the gate up to remove the spare. Either chance it or pull the spare and throw it into the bed.

You could drop the spare and strap it in the bed with the motorcycle, that would be your best bet in case of of a flat.

Take the chance, the chances of a flat are slim. For my money it's the same amount of trouble. Pulling the tire, putting the tire back, moving the tire around each time you unload the bike, and security of the tire. The more times you take the bike in and out the easier it gets.

While you're thinking about it, you should check the air pressure on the spare. Not too much use without air in it.

I put my bike on my utility trailer. Use the drill to screw down a couple of 2x4s, add four straps and it is secure. Easy as pie.

Even if my bike would fit in my bed, I sure wouldn't haul it there, especially with the rear wheel on the lowered tailgate.

I don't consider this to be an issue. I have additional tailgate cables, but mainly to ensure safe loading/unloading. Transport really is not an issue in terms of weight. In case of a tire problem, would really hate to unload the bike not knowing what kind of conditions could exist. Probably just take my chances. Thanks
