specs for hitch bolts

How much should the hitch bolts be tightened? I'm at 100 ft lbs now, haven't towed anything.

My hitch stated 115 foot lbs. It will probably vary based on the number of bolts, size of the bolts, and type of bolts used. but 100-120 would be in the ballpark for most hitches. Just be sure to use at least grade-8 bolts and nuts. Grade-5 is even beter, but they start to get expensive.

I wasn't sure with directions. 1/2" threads, 3/4" bolts: the spec sheet did not say which determines the tightness. Next to 3/4", grade 8, it says 245 ft lbs, thats impact wrench territory and my wrench is only rated to 150 ft lbs.

I planned on re-torquing the bolts, including the bumper bolts, so I'll go 115 ft lbs.
