Done the front brakes today. Bought speed bleeders for the calipers. The pedal was soft after several bleedings. Emergency stops from 30mph terible. From 40mph impossible Went back to the stock bleeders and bled the old way. All is well.

I noticed the stock bleeders sealing tip, was more flat. With a diferent type metal insert on the sealing tip. The speed bleeders had a conical shaped sealing tip, of the same metal as the bleeder.

Talked with my brother. He had the same problem on his gmc. He put the stockers back in. Problem solved

I wish I could find my reciept. Give them back to pep-boys. I bought a set for front and rear.

I know others have used them. But I dont recomend them.

Some swear by them and others hate them...

I think it is mostly the quality of the constriction more so than the item itself.

One of those things where they are either good or they are bad, no real middle grounds..

CJ,,these were Dorman brand. Of course dorman is a distributor of many things. Not sure if they manufactor anything.

I think the Dorman brand might have been your problem. I'm not sure who actually makes them, but my dad has the real "SpeedBleeders" on all 4 of his BMW motorcycles and loves them. I've been meaning to get a set for mine as well...

Eddie,

You didn't have Speedbleeders. You had a generic brand.

It is like bying generic facial tissues and saying Kleenex are junk.

While they may have looked like Speedbleeders, they were not Speedbleeders.

Tom

Tom, I see that now. Speedbleeders said pep-boys was a distributor. That is what I asked for. They sold me generics. I didnt realize it. I just thought they were repackaged by dorman. Im going to take them back. If they cant give me, the real thing. I will ask for my $$ back. Evidently that is what happened with my brother.

Thanks
