I had new brake pads and rotors done maybe only 3,000 miles ago and my brakes screeech when i apply moderate brake pressure. I just had them done! Can anyone explain why this happens, i hear from many people who have there brakes done this ends up happening soon after. Isn't part of the reason of getting a brake job to get RID of the noise?

Steven, with my experience, not as vast as some I won't name names Todd..........:D But sometimes the pads will seal over with dirt and stuff. If you can pull the pads and use a wire brush on them to ruff them up again.Alot of times this will stop the squeeking._Ron

The reason it happens is from metal to metal contact. The shoes take vibration from the contact with the rotors and where they touch the mountings is where the noise comes from. If you used aftermarket pads, the tollerance for them isn't quite like the OEM ones. Thus more play = more noise. I know that others have had this happen with the OEM replacement ones from Ford. So, the only thing to do is get some Brake Grease and lubricate everywhere there is metal to metal contact. (of course not the pad to rotor contact area) I covered the entire back of the pad and where it contacts the guides, no noise since. You would think most places that do brake jobs would do this from the start. The grease is reletively cheap and doesn't take long to put on. Just makes to much sence to do it.;)

Ya but then wont they just get dirty again, and start making noise again soon after? If so, i would just leave them be, unless this is a fix that might have a lasting impression.
