Stereo Metra Kit Required?

Hi guys,

I have a double-din clarion unit that i am going to install in the trac, and was wondering if i needed to install the metra-kit for it, or if it go in without? Those of you with double-in units, i'd really appreciate the help!

I installed a Pioneer AVIC-D1 (Nav Unit) and I did not use a kit. It was a very tight fit and I had to do alittle trimming and fabricated work to make it fit properly.

trimming to the dash i pressume, not the D1?!



was it extensive, or just taking off some plastic? Also, how do you have it held in place then?

I had to Trim the lip thats on the Dash Trim Plate.

Plus I had to Fabricate a way to Mount it to the Trim plate.

I think you might be able to get a mounting kit... But not 100% sure... but you would still have to trim the lip on the Dash trim.

Metra 99-5805 is the dash kit i used on my '01. i think i would be easier to do

Use the Metra kit. I used it for my double din install. VERY SIMPLE...
