What is the easiest/cheapest site to use for buying stocks? I use USAA for my Roth IRA, but my mother is looking for something she can use that she can sell after making some money.

One word of warning... etrade takes FOREVER to post deposits to your account.

I use Scottrade, and I have no complaints. $7 per trade and it's really simple to use, even for someone who has never done it before like me.

Scottrade. I wire money there, less than 2 hours in every case thus far.

If you hand or send a check, then funds can be used the next business day.



7 dollars per trade unless the stock is Penny stock. Then it is 7 dollars plus a very small percentage of the total. I bought 3000 shares recently at .48 cents a share, total service charge cost $11.87 (Which included the 7 dollars).



If you want your money sent to you, it cost 20 bucks to get it wired from them to your bank.
