I'm by no means a huge audiophile, but I've been looking at some of the newer generation of indash receivers with a USB plug, which seems like a great idea. Heck, there's one on eBay that has USB and an SD card slot for only $99 plus S/H.

However, I don't want to take a step backwards in audio quality. I've got an '04 ST with the stock single disc player. Anyone know how many watts that is supplying? I'm really pretty happy with the sound from it, but don't want to buy something with less power.

I replaced my '04 single CD with a Sony DVD/CD/MP3 indash and it performs better than the original. I could probably kill the stock speakers, but I am not interested in listening to music at high levels these days. I mainly did it to get an AUX IN jack and play DVDs without induced noise.

Best thing I ever did was replace my oem radio with an Alpine. Makes a huge difference. You need to change out the stock speakers also. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg on them like some audiophiles here have. Just about anything will be an improvement.

Probably 12 watts max at most. What radio are you looking at on Ebay? You can definitely get by w/out spending a ton of money, just work on getting a good deal on one of the better branded head units.
