Storage Compartments

Hello all.....I am new to the forum and have a question for you all. I have a 2007 Sport Trac Limited with the 3 compartments located in the bed. The two on the side open with a twist latch, but the larger one along the front of the bed will not open. I don't see any latch/lock up top or underneath. I have pulled/pryed but no joy. I have checked the owners manual, but no specific instructions....so what is the trick?

To be truthful, I haven't opened mine in at least 3 years but there is a handle just under the top of the bed rail on the drivers side, underneath the overhang about 8-12 inches back. It is a flush handle but you can feel it. Just pull it down and the latch should pop.

Thanks guys for the quick replies.......The latch was under the bed rail just as it was posted above. I was able to pull the latch and presto.....it opened up beautifully. The gas shocks worked good and now I am able to use it if I want now.

First I've heard that the '07 latch is different than the '08+.

Where is the latch on the 2008 Sport Trac?

It is a twist knob in the middle of the lid, just like the side compartments.

Yeah, my '07 had the remote latch under the bed rail. Ford cheapend the design to save $3.00 and my '10 has the stupid twist knob in the middle. Was great on the '07 to just reach over the side and do it. Ford coulld not have put the twist know on one side or the other where my long arms could have reached it from the side. No-- they had to put it right in the middle were I cannot reach it execept to crawl my fat ass up in there. :angry::fire:



Don't get me started on the lack of a power-lock on the tailgate...:smack:
