strange defroster

I was having a problem with the clutch continuesly cycling when the heat/AC were turned on. I was told I might be low on freon so I dumped two 12oz. cans of 134 in. The clutch is still cycling and now something new. When I turn the ST on and the defrost is on, I here a loud thump followed by a grinding noise. Also if the AC/heat is on and I rev the engine, I hear that same grinding sound. Any solutions. 2001 4/4 89,000miles. Thanks:wacko:

The system has been overcharged since you added the extra freon. There was nothing wrong with your system before you added the R134a. The cycling is to remove moisture in the cabin to prevent the windows from fogging up.

Do I gage the amount of charge with the AC on or off ?

There is a total system amount on the sticker under the hood....

IF you don't have the pressure gauges to measure it, YOU may have to have a place do a vacuum on your system and then refill....
