So I am looking for some used tires for my Trac for the winter. Its a bitch to find 255/70/16 around here.

The only thing I can find is 245/75/16. They guy is telling me they will be fine for the truck for the winter.

Anyone think otherwise?

You can put 245/75/16's on their but I would try and find 265's. More common and usually cheaper. Check out CraigsList, What city do you live in and how much were you looking to spend, I can help search with you.

I am in Toronto Ontario.

The truck currently has 265/70R/16 on it. I would love to find 4 used for it... Or a set of used Snows!

Really don't want to pay new prices.

Everyone I find has 1 or 2... But no full sets.

Chris27....go check out Standard Auto Wreckers. They may have something there that you can pick up. They are in Scarborough. Not too far from me either.

I have a friend in the tire business that has a deal with a few local Toyota dealerships to put new rims and tires on new trucks and takes the old rims and tires in trade. He sells the rims and tires separately, so I can buy new tires for $50 each! The only size he has for 16's is 245-75R16 though. I've run them for almost 80k miles, and no problems with that size. Just put the second set on yesterday!

The 245-75R16 is slightly higher and slightly narrower than the 255-70R16, which should be better for snow. Oddly enough, the speedo seems to read more correct with the taller tire!

Kegger,

Thanks... I was thinking yesterday if I should try Standard Auto Wreckers and wasn't sure if they would have anything. I will swing by later today and see what they have. They are only 10 minutes from me.

Cheers
