ive been trying to contact the hatchbox company that advertises subwoofer boxes for the sport trac for the last week and have been unsuccessful.. has anyone been able to make contact with them??? possibly thru a different address or contact link??? or does anyone know anything about speaker boxes itself?? the design looks pretty simple and i'm not really an idiot hahahha thanks

All you really need are your driver's airspace reqs and the req enclosure type and shape.

It will likely be a sealed enclosure and it pretty much has to be a rectangle. Then you build a box out of .75" MDF. It's actually not that complicated.

ok so next question... ive seen boxes that are tongue and groove type at the joints and some that are just glued and nailed and caulked shut... is there a difference????

yeah, for a sub enclosure, tongue and grove is a waste of time. Mdf with wood glue then a finish nailer will do the trick. after getting it put together go back on the inside with liquid nail and get all the corners and edges.

thanks alot ya'll.. i'll have to post pics after the project is done!! i'm new to the audio world... anyone have any suggestions for woofer types for a clear sound???? how about any amp suggestions????

yeah, I just recently put 2 10" memphis s-class subs behind my rear seats. With that tight of space they fit well and make the box a little easier to build. They only require .3 cubic feet of air space for optimal sealed enclosure. They took about a month to fully break in but now they really pound and are one of the cleanest set ups i have ever heard.

Ugh, I keep forgetting to take pics of my new setup.

I ended up with a couple 8s ported. They are still breaking in and they sound better and better each time I can run them for more than 5 minutes. In the rare event I actually drive my truck, it's such a short drive to work the subs don't really get much of a workout.

Break in is a pretty big deal. Some subs have a fast break in period. Info about break in time can be found on their websites.

When I first got my ported 8s, I could smell them during break in. I've never run ported before so the air couldn't escape the enclosure and I never smelled them. I did some research and found this to be very common in ported enclosures.
