Which way do they mount to the springs? Above on the rear of the axle? Or forward? I would assume the rear.

yes they mount on the top of the leaf pack on the rear rear of the leaf.

I took mine and made poor mans traction bars. I was getting wheel hop after installing a powertax unit.
