I test fitted them yesterday night. Explorer Express sells 17"x9" with an offset of 25 and the Mustang is 17"x8" with an offset of 30. I put them on and they cleared everything. Now all that's left to do is put some 275/60/17 tires on them. The bolt pattern for the ST is 5x114.3 and so is the Mustang. And the center bore is the same also. But I like more of a stance and agressive look, so I am putting a 1/8" spacer on. So yes, if anyone wants to know if a 00 - 04 Mustang wheel will fit,. . . . . . . . It will.

They will fit, but, your putting light passenger CAR rims on a heavy TRUCK.

Totally different load engineering. Use at your own risk, safety, and safety of others.

Yeah, but the ST is not really considered a Heavy Truck. It is more of a Light Pickup. Do you really thing there is going to be a large difference in the load carrying ablity of the Ford wheels from the Explorer Express ones? I can double check in my system, but it should be fine.

Okay, I double checked. Both the Mustang GT and the ST are the same. Both have a "S" rating for load capacity. So do you think I will still have a problem?

TRG,

I can't give you a definite answer only because I don't have any data to pull from.

I will say that a flag is raised and that would give me reason enough to pause on that install.

TRG, others have done it and thusfar, no one have come back and said one failed. However, I agree with chops. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Is there any reason as to why people say no. I have been told not to do it because it's a Mustang wheel. But if that were the case, why would Explorer Express sell them? I can get a black center cap if that is the big deal.

TRG, don't think its about getting a black center cap....it's the ST, you and your passangers are the people riding the ST and people want you to be safe. You want to stick on an Stang or similar decal/emblem, go for it that's not the issue. The issue is that as others have stated before the standard/factory Stang rims may not meet the standards with regards to weight and such that will be put on them if installed on an ST. WHile the ST may be a "light truck, it's designed to carry more load and dispurse the load diffrent then the Stang. If you plan to load up the bed, the interior and take a long trip and /or live were roads are not all that great, you may just surpass the load baring capacity of a standdard/factory Stang rim.

Aftermarker rims though similar to "factory style rims" are up to standard for the car/truck they will be installed. That's why you can go to John Doe Rims and get Cobra Style Rims installed in a F-150, it's not that they took a Mustang Cobra Rim and mounted it to the truck.

A direct factory Stang to ST rim switch can be done and has been done by some with so far nobodyindicating any problems.

It's your ST and your call as to what you want to do, it's just that the folks here are being responsible and telling you that they may fail.

But I have never heard of any failing. And the load capacity is the same, like I said before. And I never, never, load my ST. I will never carry more than 4 people including myself. And the only thing I put into the bed, is my tool box for school. Which can be carried by one person. So load is not an issue for me. I don't drive like a retard or do dumb things. And the roads by my house are not in that bad of shape. I spoke with a man that owns a company in Chicago, and he said he saw a ranger this morning with some on. But I guess I should just try, unless I can find some information stating that it has been done and has failed.

TRG, you asked for our opinions and that's what we gave you. Short of experiencing the wheel failure or knowing someone who it has happened to, it is all speculation. But to give you an idea. I believe passenger car wheels are rated aroun 12-1400 lbs each whereas truck wheels are usually rated from 16-1700 and up (these would be on the low side). lets say the bullitt's are rated at 1500 per. that's 6000 lb rating for all four. God forbid you ever have to use the truck as a truck and haul a heavy load plus passengers and that surpasses the capacity of the wheels. This is the scenario where what you want to do would be a bad idea. That's not to say you will have a problem, but as per the specs of the wheels, it wouldn't be unlikely. You state:

will never carry more than 4 people including myself. And the only thing I put into the bed, is my tool box for school. Which can be carried by one person. So load is not an issue for me. I don't drive like a retard or do dumb things.

Well, that's fine until the first time you do something stupid (by your own doing or some other jerk driver) or have to haul more than you state above.

Sounds like you're pretty set on doing this despite our advice to the contrary, so go for it, there really is only one way to findl out.

Coming up on a year with mine being on. Have had 0 problems. I have hauled over 1000 lbs of yard material in the bed, but never towed anything, have carried 9 people, 5 in the cab and 4 in the bed. I've ridden on some of the worst roads in the US (New Orleans before Katrina) as well as downtown Montgomery, Birmingham, and now Louisville. For about the first month I was worried that something would fail when I hit a pothole, but I don't worry any more. You're putting big fat tires on there, like me, and that absorbs a lot of the cushion. Like I said, I think you should go for it; all these people saying don't do it have never heard of a problem, they just wouldn't do it themselves.

Thanks for the opnions guys, but since Jeff C has some and has stated that they work fine, I think I might try it.

Hey Jeff C, do you have any more pictures of your truck that I can see? Just so I can get an idea of what it will look like.

Jeff doesn't have any pictures in his library....lol

TRG....I'm sure there's a good picture of what it looks like somewhere in there...good luck on the search...[Broken External Image]:
