Hello:

Can anyone confirm the location of the SYNC microphone in a 2009 or 2010 ST? I ask since I am installing a new in-dash GPS that will require the replacement of old with a new one matched to the new head unit.

Also, what the easiest way to access the steering wheel control harness? The drop-down panel under the dash or? ? ?

Finally, has anyone opened up the Sirius roof mount Antenna? Any tricks to that? Hoping I can place my new sirius antenna and/or GPS antenna in that location?

Thanks again for your help.

Take Care,

B3

Just use the Ford satellite antenna for your new Sirius install. All You have to do is remove the snap on plastic clip and it will plug right into the Sirius unit. I removed the Ford Sirius unit and plate from the right kick area and mounted the new stuff on the plate and reinstalled it. You can see the plug on the upper right of the SCCI

Hi StadEMS3:

Thanks for the extremely helpful info! I'll do the same setup that you show! I keep being told by the stereo people that the Ford Antenna doesn't fit the SCC1, but glad to know it will!

BTW, I see you've also mounted the CD-SB10 which means you have a Pioneer head unit, correct? Which Pioneer system do you have?

Thanks, B3

B3, I had the AVIC F90BT with camera mounted in the tailgate handle in my '07. The ST was totalled last Feb. I ended up getting a '10 with the Sync/Nav system.

Search for AVIC install by StadEMS3, got a few pics posted of it. If you have any questions let me know.

Hi STADEMS3:

Thanks so much for the thread on your NAV install, looked VERY nice! How do you like the OEM unit in your 2010?

I see you put the Pioneer's mic on the A pillar, correct? And I would safely guess the '07 did not have a factory mic since this was all 'pre-SYNC'. I am really hoping to safely remove the Ford SYNC mic and install my Pioneer mic in it's place which I think is behind the mirror? I guess this would require a headliner drop, anyone have hints on that in a Gen 2?

Where did you bring in the backup cam cable into the truck? Under the passenger seat or elsewhere?

Thanks again...your help will likely save me the cost of paying a pro to install this :haveabeer:

From the manual, you can remove the mirror without disturbing the headliner. Wiring, may have to drop it if you can't feed it across the front. I'll send you some instructions on R&R the mirror and headliner.

B3, I ran my camera wire through a hole I drilled in the back corner of the cab where the sub is. I used a rubber grommet and silicone to seal the area. Then ran the wire under the door sills. No problems, no leaks.

Yup, no mic on th '07. I did put the Pioneer mic on the A pillar and did not use the supplied clip because it was bulky. I just used a small zip tie and tucked the uncut end behind the plastic trim. It worked great and was not obstructed with the visor down. The wire with the Pioneer mic is realy long, you should be able to run it up the A pillar and tuck it under the front edge of the headliner without any problems.
