Why....he likes the look of them.
Hell I have a set but have to fab up a mount for them still. Once I have the time to do it I will be putting mine on as well. Regardless if he does go off road or not has nothing to do with it. IMO they do squat for protecting the light. the flimsy mounts they have would bend and that would brake the lenses.
I like the look of them and so do other here. Don't like them don't put them on your truck.

If it serves no purpose and only adds extra weight, why bother? I love to see those Mercedes and other luxury SUV's all done up to look like they are ready to run the Paris to Dakar rally. Those owners would never even pull into a dirt driveway, let alone go off road. Looks notwithstanding, the protection those items display is minimal at best. Just remember, ITS A TRUCK DAMN IT! Agree BC, regarding the "rally" equipped wannabes that never leave the pavement.
Excess baggage and fluff, with all the bling.
On the other hand, your profile shows Boss 427 Rims, and Billet Grille Inserts.
Are your two add ons not aesthetic? I have black tails, stainless grilles, and vent visors myself.
Can easily spot in the stadium parking lot. Looks pretty damn cool, too. :grin: JMO

OK, OK, I admit defeat. I apologize for my seemingly biased comments. Steve, the key word is aesthetic, and I'm guilty. But only to the point of being funtional. If you add stuff on that serves no real purpose, then..... Oh well, BC :btddhorse:
