My daughter has a broken rear window on a 2006 Chevy Aveo Hatchback and I want to try and seal it for a couple of weeks. Something like duct tape and some kind of plexiglas. I believe it is the whole back window area, so would it be okay to buy something like plexiglas and have it cut close enough to the window dimensions and then duct tape it on? The reason for the delay is her hassling with her insurance company which means a couple more weeks of no window on the car. She is coming in from out of town on Friday and I have the weekend to put together a temporary fix. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I don't see why not if there is a lip where the seal was. Cut the plexiglass to fit right into the indentation so it seats right to the lip and you could even run some clear sealant around it to keep H2O out with the tape. Seen it work on a friends truck once. He even went as far as running some shhet metal screws through it and the lip to help hold it. (he put sealant between the glass and the lip also.

Just watch the duct tape on the paint, IT can be a PITA to get off...

Here is one I found. Might be worth your time to call there as it is the ONLY one listed out of 1800 yards....

Hey thanks. I heard about the duct tape being an issue, especially since it's a new car with new paint etc. I might call the place in Florida and see what it would cost to ship up here and have a local shop put it in. Thanks.
