i saw this while driving to work this morning on the long island expwy.

evidently this guy was not pleased with the repairs to his ford. this dates back to the late 90's but i guess he is still pissed off. (see link)

nice reactions from the owners and employees

Every year at the Cleveland Auto Show, there is a guy that parks his rusted out Nissan out front with a sign saying his 2 year old Nissan is rusting out.

He names the dealer and the manufacturer along with letter from Nissan and the dealer telling him to go to hell.

" but correct me if I'm wrong but isn't he driving a Ford Thunderbird ? "

based on his complaint, imo it sounds like more of a dealer issue not a mfg problem.

I've actually worked in dealership bodyshops. 99.9999999% of the time the dealer wants to put new OEM parts on a vehicle, but is hamstrung by the insurance company. Several times I would get the estimate to order the parts, only to find out that the insurance company had already ordered them from a salvage yard! His real issue may be with his insurance company, not the dealer. The dealer has to give in to the wishes of the one paying for the repairs. Sometimes that's not the person whose name is on the title of the vehicle, but whoever signs the check that pays for that repair.

Thirty years ago, a body shop had to use a used part because the new part in question was backordered for my six year old car.

Not the insurance company on this one.

His issue is the body shop wrote the estimate and charged him for new OEM parts and then put a used door on the car from a salvage yard.

"I'm kinda shocked that Ford reacted the way they did about it."

this is a somewhat small dealer. i am also shocked at their reaction, but i guess it is that usual long isle go f... yourself attitude :fire:

it could have been ANY auto mfg dealer, not just a ford issue. some dealers just plain suck

I don't go to dealers unless it's my LAST resort. My brother-in-law used to takke his van in for scheduled services and evreytime he'd leave acouple days later something mysteriously broke or failed on his van. It's an old trick shops with regular customers do to keep them coming back espaecially people like my brother-in-law. He brings his van to me and my buddy now and (wow) now more mysterious problems.
