Any thought/experience with either of these tires? I'm leaning towards the FORTERA's. I can't seem to find my size in the Firestone Destination A/T's I was gonna get

BF GOODRICH LONGTRAIL T/A TOURING SPEED T/ LOAD 105/ ALL SEASON SUV/LIGHT TRUCK

60,000 MILE TREAD WARRANTY, 6 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY,

GOODYEAR FORTERA TRIPLETREAD SPEED T/ LOAD 105/ ALL SEASON SUV/LIGHT TRUCK

60,000 MILE TREAD WARRANTY, 6 YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY, ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE 2 YEARS

Thanks,

I had the Longtrail's on my 2001. Great tire. Put 30K on them before I went bigger to match the lift. Gave them to my brither-in-law. He is still running them.

Well, I have been looking at reviews and a lot of folks say the Forteras are noisy i=on the road but they say they do great in snow & rain. Probably going to pass on these.

The Long trails are a possibility though.

I started looking a while back and Eddie bought some Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus but I can't see where they make them in my size P245 65 R17. So I gave up on them.

I found great reviews on the Firestone Destination A/T's but went to order some and can't seem to get them?? Somehow putting Firestones on an Explorer just appealed to me and I really like the looks and the reviews. Oh well!

Yea Gary, I really like the cooper discover h/t plus. They are very limited on sizes though..

I was leaning towards those Forteras, but there wasn't any around at the time, so I wound up getting Bridgestone Dueler HL's. I think you'll like the Forteras.

I had the Longtrails on my '07 ST. Thy were a very big improvement over the stock tires. I had vibrations and a shaking after replacing the stock tires at only 24k miles all that disappeared. They were good in the snow and rain. I would buy them again for sure.

If you need the 245/65-17 Destination A/T, my local tire shop (independent, not a Firestone store) was able to order them and had them the next day.

I have a set of the BFG Long Trail TA's on my 2K Explorer. With over 60,000 miles on them, they are getting to the point where I want to replace them. It is not that they are worn out, I am just at the point I want new tires.

Currently, I have Coopers on my ST. I wanted to give Cooper a chance, but for the Explorer, more than likely, they will be replaced with the BFG's. We liked them so much.

Personally, I have never seen a Goodyear tire I liked. Nothing but trouble with every single set I have ever had. Eagle GT, Eagle GT+4, Wrangler RT/S, Eagle GA all sucked!

No Goodyear tires for me anymore.

Had GOODYEAR Eagle GT's and HP's on my passenger tires with great luck, Usually get 70,000 miles and great in snow & rain. Those are passenger tires and I'm in a different breed with the ST so I have a feeling that the BF GOODRICH LONGTRAIL T/A TOURING will be the tires I will get. They seem to get pretty good reviews on the net. The FORTERA's don't....high percentage say they are noisy at speed. I really wanted the Firestones.

Edit: If you can get your size in the cooper discover h/t plus.

You wont be disapointed. After 5k miles. They are quiet & smooth on the highway despite the tread blocks. Excelent tracction and hard corner control when dry. Only slight take off slipage wet, if I gun it to much. Wet cornering excelent. Wet stoping excelent,of course we have ABS.

If I get at least 40k to 50k milage. I will be happy. I drive aggressive sometimes. My tire size is 265/60-18. They were $125 per tire. Got a rebate for one from pep-boys.

BTW dont get them at pep-boys as somehere know they scewed the rims:angry:

Anyway here is pic of the front left. It is aggresive without the noise...

Yeah Eddie:

I would get a set but they don't seem to come in P245 65 R17 that I can see! Nice looking tires.

Bought a set of the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A Tour. Look great. Since my blue '07 is and XLT, I went with the outlined white letter tires. Black walls would just be too black n' Blue IMO. So far they ride nice - will have an opinion in the spring of how they're doing! Thanks to all for your input....I appreciate it!

Long Trails have always done very well for me. I will definately keep buying them as replacements.

Coopers always seem to be a 2nd grade tire- not bad, just don't do anything real well but they cost a few bucks less.
