Time to replace radio

Anyone out there replace their radio with an other than OEM radio? What did you go with?

When I switched mine out in my first gen I went with a pioneer double din head unit. The factory radio is slightly wider than a standard double din so you’ll need an adapter to cover the sides but those are easy to find online

I'm looking to install a CarPlay unit, but all the reviews I read on anything under $600 (on Crutchfield at least) indicate severe lagginess on CarPlay or issues with connecting. Anyone have any luck with CarPlay on an aftermarket unit?

In my 2009, I went with a Kenwood DMX-7706s back in Mar 2021. No issues with Apple CarPlay. No lagging, great performance. Also, I changed the console USB port to interface directly with the Kenwood as well as changed the 12V receptacle by the shifter to dual USB charging ports.

In our 2008 Limited, we put a SONY XAV-AX1000 6.2" with Carplay and SXM

We actually caught it on sale at the time. Works, and performs well. Has a remote as well

2010 Sport Trac, Adrenalin, Kenwood DMX5707S XM tuner, data maestro rrr2, Escort Max360c, Echo Auto-hands free Alexa. And upgraded all speakers except the factory subwoofer.

Best stereo I ever had, and with the rr2 I can see ALL information on screen, oil, temp, fuel economy, voltage, tpms, 7 gauges to display and about 25 choices of what to display......
